We read Psalm 7. What an interesting journey today. First the word shiggaion. Commentators aren’t sure. The conclusion is that at least it should be read with strong emotion.
Secondly that Benjaminite Cush. Apparently no record of this guy. Perhaps the sage who put this in the hymnal knew something lost to history?
Thirdly we found our editions in disagreement about who “he” is. Particularly around verses 11-14ish some substitutes God for he, some capitalized “He” to indicate God. It is clear that the Hebrew is “he” and there are no capitals in Hebrew so the editors were clearly making their best, although different, judgements.
All in all an interesting romp this week.
